The filter comes with all the fittings you’ll need to hook up the unit to your water line.

There are only two faucets involved in the filter attachment, so there is no need to drill a hole for a separate faucet on the sink.

First, we need to open the cold-water line run, to make sure that all the media fines are removed and any air in the filtration system is purged.

Then we must determine the cold-water line and turn it off and disconnect the supply line.

The filter connects directly to the standard plumbing cold water line under your sink.

But if you’d prefer a filtered water-only faucet, they can modify the installation kit just for you.

Maintenance

Replacing this model cartridge is easy, comparing to other filters where you have to open up the housing and remove the cartridge.

The cartridge is the main part of this model, so it is simple to replace it, you just remove the hoses that connect to it and connect them to a new cartridge.

But the CuZn UC-200 company doesn’t sell replacement cartridges only, so you will have to order the whole unit again. 

It’s more expensive than most filter replacements but when you consider it’s good for up to 5 years, it’s actually very affordable.

However, this is a long-lasting filter system, which makes it very affordable, when compared to other models that require more maintenance. 

Full replacement of the unit will cost you $120, but again that may only be needed after five years.

Performance

The UC-200 uses three stages of filtration to clean up the water and give it a fresh and pure taste. There are micro sediment membranes that prevent particles like rust, silt, sediment, and other heavy metals to pass at this stage. The coconut shell carbon filter eliminates the bad taste and odor from the water, organic contaminants, and chlorine, and the KDF-55 filtration media prevents bacterial growth and filters out inorganic contaminants. 

This is especially useful as the UC-200 is bacteriostatic and not susceptible to mold or bacteria.

This model is larger of its size because of its capacity. This is a 5-year filter meaning the cartridge must be big enough to last that long.

If you don’t have enough free space to fit the CuZn UC-200, you should probably avoid this model.

It makes installation a bit tricky, but not impossible, as you might need someone to help you fit it properly under the sink.

If you live in one of the several cities that disinfect their water using chloramine, do not buy this under-counter water filter.

You also want to avoid using the CuZn UC-200 filter with untreated water, because the water might contain waterborne microbes, which the filter does not remove.

And the filter is not effective against TDS, so you better use a Reverse Osmosis filtration system against TDS.
